Programming Analyst (temporary)


Reporting to the Director of Programming in Winnipeg, we have a temporary (approximately one-year) opportunity for an experienced individual who will be responsible to provide reporting and operational detail that will be used for verification of projects' characteristics, financial structure and contractual provisions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and goals of APTN.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage Access database - evaluation of existing database and recommendations for data collection. Responsible for negotiations with contractor to acquire necessary fields and characteristics of information to manipulate and export relevant data.
* Key contact for on-line submission of applications for development, production, and acquisition. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
* Develop annual strategic plan for data review and analysis, with time lines.
* Prepare overview of analysis for presentation to the Programming Department.
* Develop specific knowledge of several aspects of the industry: content, budget, corporate, funding structures, distribution, marketing in broadcast, television or new technologies (multimedia).
* Responsible for all digital mass communications from the APTN Programming Department such as creating and distributing the Requests for Proposals (RFP), departmental newsletter, e-sharing, etc.
* Oversee the producer section of the APTN website to ensure up to date information is posted.
* Read and assess scripts and provide written reports with recommendations.
* Contribute to the drafting and implementation the Department processes and procedures
* Oversee some production and acquisition activities, such as APTN "Short Cuts" strand, Music Video strand, as well as other content.

Requirements:

* Undergraduate university or college degree; two to five years related experience in broadcasting, independent production or distribution; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, Internet/e-mail software
* Ability to speak French and/or an Aboriginal language an asset.

Remuneration: DOQ/DOE.
