Senior Manager, Preservation and Protection
Alberta Children's Services, Wetaskiwin
The Challenge
The Central Alberta Child and Family Services Authority is seeking
an individual who is motivated by challenge, open to ongoing
change, and dedicated to building positive working relationships
to achieve results. The incumbent will join the Region just in
time to participate in the implementation of the Casework Practice
Model and has the opportunity to promote, support, facilitate,
and champion the progressive strategies which are fundamental
to this service delivery model.
The Environment
The Senior Manager of Preservation and Protection has the privilege
of leading a highly skilled and motivated team of individuals
who are committed to improved outcomes for children, youth and
families in Wetaskiwin and area. Service delivery in this zone
includes provision of services to Ermineskin First Nation, provision
of services to rural communities within the Counties of Ponoka
and Wetaskiwin, and provision of services within the City of
Wetaskiwin. To provide access to services and address the unique
needs of children and families in the Wetaskiwin service delivery
areas, the Region builds collaborative partnerships with families,
Aboriginal communities, RCMP, Delegated First Nation Agencies,
contracted agencies and community partners. Some travel is required
for the position and transportation arrangements must meet the
operational requirements of the Ministry.
The Team
The Senior Manager of Preservation and Protection reports to
the Senior Manager of Zone Operations and is a member of Regional
Leadership Team. Team members provide leadership to the Organization
to plan, develop, implement and lead programs and practices that
produce positive outcomes for children and families in Central
Alberta.
The Skills
The successful candidate will have exceptional leadership skills,
administrative skills, strategic planning skills, and administrative
management skills to manage tasks in the following areas: financial
budgeting and forecasting, strategic and business planning, human
resources, employee training and development, program monitoring
and evaluation, the achievement of client outcomes and service
resource management. Strong interpersonal communication skills
and a personal commitment to the values of respect, integrity,
accountability and excellence are essential. Effective computer
skills are a requirement.
The Knowledge
The candidate must have a working knowledge of all Central Alberta
Child and Family Services and Ministry of Children's Services
programs and initiatives with specific emphasis on Child Intervention,
Assessment and Case Management, Family Supports to Children with
Disabilities, Foster Care, Adoptions, Early Childhood Development,
Community Engagement, and the associated legislation and policies.
The successful candidate will possess understandings of Aboriginal
cultures and relationships.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Social Work degree and/or
a Masters of Social Work Degree plus extensive experience with
the following: (Equivalencies considered)
* Delivering a full range of Children's Services programs and
services (required)
* Working collaboratively with communities and families (essential)
* Supervision/Management (vital)
* Community development (an asset)

Salary: $77,352 - $105,540.
