Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Aboriginal Case Review and Investigation Specialist
An exciting opportunity is available with the BC Coroners Service for someone who wants to take action to prevent loss of life and improve the health, safety and well-being of all children in British Columbia. As a member of the Child Death Review Unit, the Aboriginal Case Review and Investigation Specialist will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team working to identify risk factors related to a child's death with the view to develop recommendations that could reduce those same risk factors for other children. Your analytical skills will be an asset as you review child fatalities and identify the risk factors, patterns and trends. The cases will relate to all child deaths in BC. Your focus will be on reviewing cases of child death where expertise in Aboriginal issues is required. Your superior leadership, communication skills and interpersonal skills will ensure your successful collaboration with Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities in the review of a child's death. Your authority will be supported by the powers pursuant to Section 48 of the Coroners Act. You will have a minimum of two years experience in a related field. OR you may have a Master's degree in a related discipline with one year related experience; OR you may have completed a two year diploma in a related discipline from a recognized college or institution and have a minimum of three years experience in a related field. This position, excluded from Union membership, has a salary of up to $76,000 and requires a police record check. An eligibility list may be established.
