PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide secretarial support to the Native Access Program to Nursing/Medicine (NAPN/M) within the College of Nursing.

NATURE OF WORK: Reporting to the NAPN/M Aboriginal Advisors, in both Saskatoon and Regina, this position is driven by constant deadlines, continuous changes and shifting priorities. This position works independently and receives moderate supervision.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Answers enquiries about the programs; drafts letters, edits and proofreads routine correspondence on NAPN/M Program related issues; assists with research grant preparations; organizes special events; handles accounting procedures; files; types materials such as letters, reports, and promotional materials; coordinates and controls mail-outs; provides telephone reception; schedules, plans, attends and takes minutes at meetings; assists students with photocopying and printing; and other related clerical duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Completion of Grade 12 and a one year recognized post-secondary secretarial
program.

Experience: Three to five years of office experience, preferably in a University setting. Understanding of Aboriginal cultures is essential. The ability to speak an Aboriginal language would be an asset.

Skills: Effective interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal; demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills; proven ability to work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines; ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software.
