Education Skills Development Liaison
The O’Chiese First Nation (OCFN) is a Cree First Nation community located 40 miles northwest of the town of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. The OCFN governs and administers an effective management operating structure that is community-based and is guided by qualified operational policies to ensure consistency with applicable laws and regulations. Within the OCFN’s management structure, the OCFN is currently seeking a self-motivated individual to fulfill the full-time position of a Human Resource Officer. The position will contribute to the on-going development of effective administrative management systems and controls that enhances the operational management structure for the OCFN.


The ESDL will work within the goals and objectives, mission and mandate of the O’Chiese First Nation Employment Training and Education program and under the guidelines and standards of the Yellowhead Tribal College Post-Secondary programs and supports. The ESDL will assist in the coordination of the administration of the OCFN Education Funds in accordance with applicable policy.


This is a full-time professional position requiring the Education Skills Development Liaison to execute the following summarized duties and responsibilities in a manner that is consistent and cognizant of the O’Chiese First Nation Employment Training and Education program.

  • Creates, in conjunction with the ETED a caring, safe and acceptable atmosphere in which growth and independence are fostered by the maintenance of a supportive and positive role.

  • Provides a continuity and consistency of support to the ETED Coordinator thereby facilitating the students access to and progress in post secondary education programs.

  • Acts as the primary liaison between the student(s) and the relevant post secondary institution, thereby promoting effective communication and success.

  • Assist with potential YTC Post Secondary student applications ensuring all relevant information relating to the student is captured and collected.

  • Improve the learning experience across the spectrum of post secondary educational programs, ensuring consistency with O’Chiese First Nation and YTC College guidelines and any mandated and professional standards including federal and provincial education legislation and related laws.



  • Degree and or Diploma in Education is preferred.

  • Grade 12 plus an applicable (10) ten-month post secondary program or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

  • Knowledge of YTC post secondary programs, deliverables policies and procedures.

  • Extensive knowledge of federal and provincial post secondary education legislation & related laws.

  • Organization and management experience as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs of the post secondary education system and the unique aspects of First Nations post secondary education systems.

  • Computer skills and knowledge of office software packages

  • Knowledge of First Nations administration and management

  • Clear Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Records Check.

  • Salary will be commensurate experience and qualifications.
