Aboriginals recognized in business distinction awards

Nominations are open until Nov. 25 for the 2012 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction. The ABAD include a number of awards geared toward Aboriginal achievement in the business world: Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur; Aboriginal Relations-Best Practise; and Eagle Feather Business. The 2011 distinction winners with Aboriginal connections were Lesser Slave Lake Management Services Ltd. (Slave Lake) for the Eagle Feather; Janice Larocque, Spirit Staffing and Consulting Inc. (Calgary), for Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur; Ghost River Rediscovery Society (Calgary) for Diversity Leadership; Massey Whiteknife (Fort McMurray) for Youth Entrepreneur Award; and United Protection Services Inc. (Edmonton) for Aboriginal Relations-Best Practice.
