AFN's Atleo visits Alberta First Nations impacted by flooding

Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo and AFN Alberta Regional Chief Cameron Alexis will meet with First Nation leadership in Alberta this evening to get an update and overview of the flooding situation and work with First Nations to ensure urgent and long-term needs arising from this crisis are addressed.

On Thursday, June 27 the National Chief will visit some of the First Nation communities impacted by the recent flooding.

Itinerary (note: all times are Alberta time)

6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26

Gathering of Alberta First Nations leadership with AFN National Chief Atleo
Tsuu T'ina Council Chambers, Tsuu T'ina First Nation

Thursday, June 27

National Chief community visits of First Nations affected by flooding
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.: Siksika First Nation
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Stoney Nakoda First Nation (Morley, AB)

Times are approximate given current travel conditions.

AFN has been in contact with First Nations in Alberta, monitoring flood recovery efforts, while at the same time liaising with government officials to address urgent needs.

The Assembly of First Nations is the national organization representing First Nations in Canada.
