Elizabeth School on Elizabeth Metis Settlement was put on a lock down on Dec. 13, a precautionary move taken by school principal David Anger after  “suspicious damage was discovered to the windows in the Grade 2 and 3 classrooms,” said a Northlands School Division press release.  Students were moved to the gymnasium for other activities while the damage was investigated by a forensics officer from St. Paul.  Students and staff returned to class at noon.  “We can’t confirm the window damage was caused by gunshots but the holes are consistent with a 22 rifle,” Troy Hadland, Cold Lake RCMP said. “We also believe the incident happened overnight.” Extra RCMP patrols were conducted during the school’s Christmas concert. There were no injuries, and Victim Services members were on hand to talk to anyone requesting counselling.
