Switch Dance - Flying Dust First Nation 2012
Bert Crowfoot was at the Flying Duist First Nation September 2 and captured some great images of dancers celebrating their heritage and culture. One event he captured was the Switch Dance. Dancers dress and compete for prizes dressed in the regalia of their opposite gender. So you have men dancing the women's categories and women dancing the men's categories. It's about lightening it up a bit, relaxing, having fun and laughing at ourselves...

Siksika Powwow - Girls Fancy - 2012

Bert's daughter Sandra Crowfoot travelled with him to Skisika and shot her first powwow with her Canon T2i camera and a Canon 270 EX II flash.
Sandra did an awesome job and made her dad proud. She shot 429 images and we chose to post 80+ of them in the Siksika Galleries below.
