On a cool, cloudy Monday morning on Nov. 15, hundreds of people attended the 11th annual Join the Circle Rally and Walk Sober in Edmonton.

The event that began at 10 a.m. with a rally at city hall and ended with a walk to the Sacred Heart Church of the First Nations was a way for people to come together and celebrate an addictions-free lifestyle.

Child poverty is the focus recent initiatives on the Peigan reserve in southwestern Alberta. Family members and the Metis community at large in Alberta are mourning the loss of one of their most esteemed and cherished Elders. On Nov. 12, Mrs. Delia Gray, 82, passed away. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1975 and her best friend, Teri House, who passed away earlier this year.
